HOW A BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM SAVES YOU MONEY?
• PROTECTION AGAINST POWER CUTS
Battery energy storage systems act as an emergency back-up supply, keeping your business running during a power cut. Think of what the cost of a power outage means for your business in terms of unexpected downtime, staff costs, damaged tools, wasted product, pressure on order deadlines… £££
• REDUCTION IN DISTRIBUTION NETWORK COSTS
Battery energy storage systems allow you to store cheap electricity and release during peak tariffs reducing your DISTRIBUTION USE OF SYSTEM (DOUS) electricity costs without cutting your consumption.
• REDUCTION IN TRANSMISSION NETWORK COSTS
The charges you pay to National Grid are based upon average demand during three half-hour periods between November and February (known as Triads). As these are usually between 4-7pm on a weekday, having a lower usage during the Triads will reduce your TRANSMISSION NETWORK USE OF SYSTEM (TNUOS) electricity charges.
• REDUCTION IN CAPACITY MARKET LEVY
This is charged per kWh of electricity used during peak demand times (4-7pm, weekdays between November and February). Using less during these times will reduce the charge on your electricity bill.
HOW A BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM GENERATES AN INCOME?
By working with a third party aggregator (which we can arrange), your battery energy storage system can generate revenue streams without any impact on the service it provides to you.
• REVENUE FROM ANCILLARY SERVICES TO NATIONAL GRID
National Grid has an obligation to maintain system frequency at 50Hz. Your battery energy storage system can provide a balancing service to National Grid called FIRM FREQUENCY RESPONSE (FFR).
• REVENUE FROM CAPACITY MARKET
The Distribution Network Operators have a constant need to balance supply and demand on the network. Your battery energy storage system can generate a revenue by providing power to the grid on demand – called DEMAND RESPONSE.
• REVENUE FOR EXPORTING ELECTRICITY
You battery energy storage system can earn per kWh exported through your POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENT (PPA) and the GENERATOR DISTRIBUTION USE OF SYSTEM (GDUOS) paid by the Distribution Network Operator.
